After saving much of the superhero community from certain doom, costumed crime fighter Empowered is dismayed to find that, in the suspicious eyes of her caped colleagues, she's gone from being merely a "pair of training wheels for supervillains" to possibly being a closeted supervillain herself! Worse yet, she's wrestling with envy and resentment that her roommate Ninjette and boyfriend Thugboy are now more popular in masks-and-tights circles than she is! Meanwhile, our stressed-out superheroine must also unravel an alien-spawned body-image conspiracy, overcome "cosplay" dress-up disasters at work and in bed, and try to survive a potentially lethal confrontation with her teammate Sistah Spooky!

* Empowered Vol. 1 is already in its fourth printing!

* A New York Times bestseller!

* Adam Warren's work on The Dirty Pair is well known to U.S. comics readers.

Adam Warren at his best! This volume ends with a dramatic climax (no pun intended) and will leave you jones-ing for the next installment!

What began for me as a novelty purchase of cheesecake super-heroine art with "Empowered vol. 1" has evolved into one of my favorite and most anticipated reads. Adam Warren's illustration work is consistently wonderful, but that's not what keeps bringing me back. It is the surprisingly real evolution of the main character and her supporting cast that has made Empowered a joy to read. This latest installment brings in even more new, interesting (and sexy!) characters while evolving existing characters in unexpected ways. This book has grown beyond the simple "sexy fluff comedy" it advertises itself to be, and has proven itself capable of engaging dramatic content, and of evoking, from this reader at least, an unprecedented emotional connection with the characters. For "a funny book about a super-heroine who gets tied up all the time," Empowered is much better than it should be. I can't recommend it highly enough.
