Each volume of the Hellboy Library Edition also includes extensive supplemental materials, including previously unreleased sketches and designs.

*Hellboy Volume 1 collects the first two story-arcs-Seed of Destruction and Wake the Devil-with the original introductions by Robert Bloch and Alan Moore.

*Expanded Mignola sketchbook sections.

Great book. The prize in my collection. Hard cover adds to the great art & story. Worth every cent.

SIMPLY A MUST-OWN!!! Everyone nowadays know Hellboy, probably by the (excellent, I must say) feature films by Guillermo Del Toro. But here all begins. Extremly engaging stories detailing the origin of the lovable character, with Mike Mignola's ASTONISHING art. A creator's masterwork at the peak of his game. And the presentation of this book is marvelous. One of the most beautiful volumes I have in my collection, a truly DELUXE book. Carefully designe with tons of extras. Buy it today. You won't regret it.

These one of a kind editions are the best you can get as a Hellboy fan, even so we could use a little more extense sketches section.

As a hard back collector, I really appreciate the “absolute” size editions. They are great to display in a library, and the oversized printing really helps you appreciate the artwork inside.

I am growing more and more impressed with Mike Mignola’s art and storyline. I am constantly surprised by the economy of his imagery and his bold use of black. He packs a lot of information into deceptively simple frames, and what he doesn’t show (and hides in the black) is often as telling as the what is revealed in carefully selected color.

As far as storyline goes, I have dabbled in Hellboy and have read bits and pieces before I purchased this. As you can imagine, I was glad to start the story from its published beginning, and I am eagerly awaiting the other volumes.

I liked the opening essay and the bonus material in the back (sketches and notes). The paper is great and the cover art is slightly recessed which is ideal for shelf storage (no wear-and-tear). I am a little disappointed that there wasn’t a slip case for it, but it is a minor quibble from an otherwise excellent edition. If you are a collector or a fan, this is an excellent addition to any library.
