J. P. Kalonji wields a clean, street-informed style to deliver a tale that glistens with blood and drama, yet is ultimately uplifting. Nearly four hundred pages long, this graphic novel employs full-page panels to tell the story of an Edo-era swordsman's quest for survival and enlightenment. When Ningen leaves his dojo at the request of his master -- to travel the world and grow as a swordsman -- he embarks on a journey that becomes a metaphor for the cycle of life and every human's possibility for spiritual growth.

* Collaborating with such international clients as Wyclef Jean, Amnesty International, Thrasher, and Burton snowboards, illustrator J. P. Kalonji has begun to enchant the world with his energetic art style. Now he's ready to make a splash with his English-language graphic-novel debut!

* This engaging, nearly 400-page tale draws comparisons to both Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal and Jeff Smith's Bone.

The art work is great, but there is very little text, its almost all pictures which is kinda boring. I liked that it was thick, but wish there was more story to it, as the ending wasnt that clear. I enjoyed it overall, but left something to be desired.

So I got this when it was the deal of the day a few weeks ago and it is an amazing book. Probably maybe out of the 200 pages of single panel a page, there as only about 20 pages of dialogue, but still and amazing comic. MUST BUY!

Ouhaaa What can I say! I ve seen some panels and man they ar incredible! Energy, rythme, it s a pure pleasure. It s a must have ! A new artist star is born! Impressed

Fuckin' great!!! The one page/one panel concept is such efficient for the narrative, that it's like watching the best of the Shaw Bros movies! The philosophical aspect is also well express and doesn't fall in the intellectual speech. Then, the graphics. So beautiful, so pure, so dynamic, so perfect. Kalonji is a new author in America, new fresh air for the worlwide comics. 365 Samurai is like nothing I've ever read before and it's more than pleasure to read it.
