The post-apocalyptic science-fiction saga Akira, with its thought-provoking themes and kinetic artwork, introduced the world to the power of manga. Now available again, this classic adventure is ready to be discovered by a new generation of readers!

Welcome to Neo-Toyko, built on the ashes of a Tokyo annihilated by a blast of unknown origin that triggered World War III. The lives of two street-wise teenage friends, Tatsuo and Kaneda, change forever when paranormal abilities begin to waken in Tetsuo, making him a target for a shadowy agency that will stop at nothing to prevent another catastrophe like the one that leveled Tokyo. At the core of the agency's motivation is a raw, all-consuming fear of an unthinkable, monstrous power known only as Akira.

Akira is Back! If you missed the chance to buy it when Dark Horse was running it well you've got another chance now that Kodansha has come to America. This series is the definition to classic in regards to manga. I never cared for the movie but one day i decided to read the manga and at first it was slow paced, but by the time I hit volume 3 I couldn't put the series down. Now if all you've seen or known about akira is the movie and maybe you didnt think to much of it or maybe you thought it was amazing either way you will $#@& bricks when you hear this. Akira is alive! He is not a bunch of body parts in jars. And that is what I usually tell the skeptics to get them to read this masterpiece. When this hits the shelves in October, Buy it, it's worth the 25 dollars and size wise its the equivalent to three volumes of manga (which generally costs 30 dollars or more).
