TFAW Ecommerce & Retail Marketing Manager

Things From Another World, a specialty comics and pop culture retailer is seeking an experienced Ecommerce & Retail Marketing Manager to join our expanding team.

The Ecommerce & Retail Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning, development and execution of all of the company’s Ecommerce and physical retail marketing strategies including marketing communications, advertising (online and physical), and public relations activities, both external and internal.

The successful candidate for this role is a driven self-starter, possessing a tactical mind, creative spirit, and strong work ethic. This role is directly responsible for driving the growth of online and brick-and-mortar sales through developing, monitoring, and successfully monetizing all online advertising and promotional efforts. This role leads, works alongside, and develops a staff of two (Content & Community Manager + Graphic Designer) in the creation and delivery of marketing and sales materials, events, promotions, and services across all sales channels in the areas of marketing, communications, advertising, and public relations. This position also coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with other departments and external partner organizations.

Some of the key responsibilities and duties include the following:

  • Oversees all marketing department efforts and staff.
  • Responsible for researching, developing, monitoring and successfully growing all online advertising efforts (SEO, PPC, Display Advertising, Affiliate Channels, etc.). A documented history of personal capability and success in these areas, as well as the ability to properly convey objective insights through data driven reporting is required.
  • Coordinate and foster media interest in the company and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests; act as the company’s primary representative with the media.
  • Manage the development of programs and resource materials to assist all sales channels in the marketing, communications and positioning of their promotional activities.
  • Interface and provide direction for the Company’s social media efforts. Develop and manages strategies for search engine marketing, social media campaigns, and affiliate program. Review ad spend and budgets in conjunction with Vice President of Retail to ensure conformity to departmental budgets and spending guidelines.
  • Review the ROI of paid search channels as measured by ad spend versus revenue/profit from conversion with their staff, to evaluate efficacy and revise ongoing strategies.
  • Leads all marketing projects such as cause-related marketing, sales, promotions, and special events.
  • Develop, plan and execute promotions and events for in-store, ecommerce and offsite from conception to post-mortem analysis. This includes sales, comic signings, conventions as well as other events compatible with the brand and image of the company.
  • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for all marketing, communications and public relations programs and activities; monitor progress, maintain budgetary controls, and evaluate performance. Coordinate all budgeting activities with Accounting staff to ensure adherence to departmental and company budgets throughout the year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience successfully managing a marketing team of 2 or more people.
  • Demonstrated experience in analysis of paid search and social media campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and hold to schedule.
  • Must be familiar with SEO, AdWords, and all prevalent social media platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrable skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience with hiring, developing and supervising personnel.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing marketing copy, creating and delivering presentations, and negotiating with all media.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
  • Demonstrated, intermediate skills in HTML, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • On-call availability outside of standard business hours infrequently required.
  • Infrequent, out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
